Four Seasons Denver is using a Flickr group to build pre-opening buzz

In preparing to write this on Best Hotel Amenities, I came across something cool from the soon-to-open Four Seasons Denver.

They’re using a Flickr group to generate pre-opening buzz

As you can see here, they’re inviting amateur photographers to take pictures of the construction.

If you’re opening a hotel, could you do something like this?

  • This is a great idea Josiah !

But the bigger question is how is Four Seasons promoting their Flickr Group ? On Facebook ? On Twitter ?

Flickr is great for uploading photos and for photo enthusiasts, but I am not quite sure how inclusive Flickr Marketing is.

How many Four Seasons guests actually use Flickr ? How many guests in general use Flickr ?

Personally, I would have thought that Facebook would have been a better place to promote such an initiative, unique though it is…

It is really important for not just a hotel but any business to understand issues of inclusivity. How many of my guests are into Schmocial Schmedia ? If this is a small amount, then am I better off using my blog instead to appeal to a larger audience ? Unless, of course, EXclusivity is what you are looking for !

    Cheers
    Mihir

    • Great point – I think the lesson for us is: Make sure to promote any new project you’re working on.

If you’re publishing to Flickr, blog about it.
If you’re posting to YouTube, tweet about it.

      This cross-promotion is essential.
