So many tools, so little time :) do you think we should hire a Social Media Marketer in the next future? I can barely follow my Facebook account, still having some problems with Twitter, I know Buzz can be powerful but these platforms are really time-consuming...

Professionally I use:
1) Hotel and professional personal blog
2) Twitter for networking and biz
3) FB for hotel pages
4) Flickr/Picasa and Youtube for images/vids
5) and a couple others I am forgetting

And I am not sure how hotels could enter that Buzz world AT ALL, at least in it's current state. It would have to change drastically for a brand to be meaningfully represented.

HOWEVER:

Facebook is lame... the interactivity and meaningfulness of posts is nil. Post a couple pics for friends and fam, that's about it. But it isn't meaningful for me. Twitter is fun personally, so is my personal blog.

But in less than a month, Buzz has taken away my need to post on FB, Yelp's talk boards, and some other places.... and I don't have much of a following.

What I do have is a million random strangers conversing about religion, technology, politics, aesthetics, architecture, art related things, etc. It has been massively interesting, and I am happy using up my alotted time with Buzz. So there..... I think it may just be a better way to do my personal social media, and it will kill facebook dead.

I am also thinking of stopping using facebook for personal photo uploads and using picasa, which should soon integrate with Buzz (I assume). That way I can just send links, instead of forcing my non FB family to log in.

It's funny, because in all of this the one I see totally marginalized and becoming increasingly less relevant is facebook.

Closed networks based off casual geographic connections has no meaning to me. If Buzz's early adopters keep it as a forum of thoughts and ideas, it could become a VERY powerful place for a brand to position itself as an intellectual/thought leader subtly preaching it's core values, mission, and intent.

If a brand got the go ahead to allow someone to speak, converse, debate openly over a wide range of topics, it could be very interesting.

"Google Buzz is going to be seriously challenged because the very people most likely to be interested in Buzz will already have places to carry out their online social activities."

So true. I already am on Twitter (which is integrated) and Facebook (which is not) that I really don't have the time to post my updates to another Social Network.

Where I do think Buzz will score is if it is able to harness the potential of Google Search so that my status updates for my Goa Hotel are better indexed and hence available to a wider audience.

Do you know how Google plans to improve visibility of my status updates via Buzz ?

Cheers
