Great article. Do you have any advice for better understanding seasonal implications for hotel marketing (i.e. when are promotional efforts needed the most based on seasonality, holidays, etc.)? Any white papers or research that you could point me to?

I am a new 31 unit motel (less than a year old), not only located in a small community but also the first modern lodging facillity in the area. I am looking for all the help I can get on marketing as in order to market myself I have to market the area. I am still in the process of development my overall marketing strategy with a limited budget. Some things are working and some things are not. It has been suggested that I put my dollars and focus primarily on social media both inhouse and outsoucing so educating myself on all things social is challenging.

Thanks for being such a great source.

Fantastic article, especially the search engine optimization part. Of course my opinion may be a tad slanted. One important facet often overlooked within CPC campaign"s", is structuring adwords campaigns correctly so the ROI for each keyword can be correlated with conversions. This seems to be a recurring facet within the community & a tarnishing factor inhibiting Hoteliers & business owners from making accurate assessments with their advertising dollar.

Very very good article with easy to understand and practical advice. SEO and internet marketing are still very new not only to hotel operators but to those that eventually approve all marketing expenditure so it is imperative that what ever money gets allocated is also used in the most effective manner possible.
