The value of hyper-local news

Is hyper-local news a new trend in online publishing?

Michael seems to think so, and gives the example of Mill Valley Patch as a new form of neighborhood rag-meets-community bulletin board.

How could a hotel or hospitality company use this?

  • What if you created a minisite full of local content that was extremely relevant to someone visiting the area?
  • What if you partnered with the top local bloggers and photographers in your town to produce content?
  • What if you formed alliances with other local business owners to share special deals?

  • I think thats a wonderful idea Josiah !

In fact, I am going to start on it right away…

Every brand on the internet should only aim to provide information to its customers. And for a hotel brand, that translates into usable, local information about the city they are located in…

Hoteliers will do well to keep in mind your blog post…

    Cheers
