TripAdvisor just became the #1 most popular travel website

According to new data from comScore, TripAdvisor just became the #1 most popular website in the whole travel industry. With 35,382,000 unique monthly visitors, TripAdvisor surpassed Expedia by over 2 million visits.
Regardless of your approach to this site in the past, you must take TripAdvisor seriously now. (To the point of making it the center of your online reputation program.)

Even before this, I think TripAdvisor was the go to place for hoteliers looking for feedback on their stay.
As a hotelier, I am not worried about negative feedback.
According to the Law of Candour (22 Immutable Laws of Marketing), people simply refuse to believe that ALL your reviews have been amazingly positive. Tempered by a few negative reviews, the positive reviews gain even more credibility in the eyes of the reader.
Instead, I think a big challenge for hoteliers is to find an ‘ethical way’ to increase guests comments in general (whether positive or negative) on TripAdvisor, something all of us hoteliers must now strive to do increasingly.
Cheers
Mihir
P.S. I find it quite surprising that so few people comment on your blog posts.
To paraphrase what I read in an article in the Guardian today, ‘commenting’ forces me to clarify my thoughts about your blog post in my own mind. I dont really know it until I write it ! So commenting on your blog posts in reality helps us hoteliers more than we realise…
WOW.

That happened quick. Tripadvisor is using Facebook to generate content.
It’s all Facebook. OH MY GOSH I WAS RIGHT!
